MONDAY STOKE: DIY Splitboard

The homey Eric from the St. Helens tour has been chomping at the bit to get back out on ski boards, and after much deliberation/prerequisite internet era overthinking decided to go the DIY route. Three ski boards and a short vid were cranked out on a lazy Saturday. Not sure why the perspective is circa-1994 Sony Trinitron, was the first time shooting vid on the 7D (note to self: the live preview button doesn’t start the video shootin’) so will have to play around with it some. Yes, some obvious steps are missing from the vid, but I had some other things to deal with so didn’t get all the steps between the cut and the final beer.

I hear that. Technically I’ve got one…except I can’t even stand upright in it and can pretty much touch wall to wall aka not useful for much but storing junk. Homey Kenny’s garage there was a nice setup, all the tools, dude even makes ukuleles and guitars for fun.

  • Hell ya Great video and edit work! Makes it look easy. Just finished waxing the new splitty. She is ready for the maiden voyage!

  • snowboards with lots of sparks flying out of them look kewl.

LOL LIKE DREX WOULD BE USING A GARAGE TO MAKE SPLITBOARDS LOL LOL AND LOL

shit is super easy, expecially with a table saw. I subscribe to the “draw a line on it and hey come here stand on it while I cut along it” method. All the jigs and trying to get it ultra perfect is unnecessary, but that’s the splitboarder’s way innit?

Just two years ago it was the guys with the factory-made splits that were cool. Now everyone has them, and I’m the cool guy with my DIY. Cycles bro.
